The documentary, Gearing Up, produced by KETC St. Louis and Storyhouse Productions, features the 2008 Wissahickon Robotics Team, will be shown locally on WHYY, Channel 12 on 9/24/09 at 10 PM. (This is immediately after WHS Back to School night, so set those recorders, just in case.)
Also if you have friends outside of the Philadelphia area, here is a continuously updated list of showings. More listings will be added in the coming days and Channel 23 NJN will show the film in November. (TBA)
The film documents the challenges faced by four very different high schools during the 2008 FIRST® Robotics season. In addition to featuring Wissahickon HS, the story also chronicles the season of an all-girls rookie team from Baltimore, a team from a correctional institution in Colorado and a team from suburban St. Louis. The story is enhanced by the focus on individual members, their personal challenges, and lessons learned during the competition.
