As we move into the second week of build season, we are starting to see pieces of our robot come together. Two of our veteran CADers have been hard at work designing a sheet metal drive base and custom
gearboxes. We hope to have a fabricated drive base completely assembled in two weeks. Our designers have also been hard at work, building telescoping arms, winches, intakes, and cube manipulators. Over the week, the team has finalized and tested most of our prototypes and is beginning to make decisions about our final robot design.
In terms of non-robot activities, the Media and PR team have had great successes this week! Team 341 is proud to announce our two Dean’s List Nominees, Brianna R. and Joseph T., and our Woodie Flowers’ Nominee, Coach Kara Bakowski! Our PR team has been working hard on interviewing and writing their essays and look forward to getting to know their peers in more depth. The media team have had continued success filming, editing, and making their subsystem videos.
We also had the pleasure of making an appearance at the Wissahickon High School’s end-of-semester Pep Rally, bringing out some of our own robots to create an interactive and spirited event. Team 341 had a wonderful time bringing out Miss Daisy XV, and a robot from our Sparky’s Robot World initiative.
The PR team is proud to release our first song! Please enjoy this parody of Eminem’s hit single “Lose Yourself” (it helps if you listen to the soundtrack).

Look, if you had, one drive base, or one design
To go faster and torque harder. In one moment
Would you CAD it, or just let it slip?
Yo
Our palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There’s grease on my polo already, mom’s spaghetti
They’re worried, kind of hurried, to build the arm steady to drop cubes
But they keep on amending what they planned out, the whole bot starts to sprout
Telescoping now, their hanger is with the clouds
We’re testing out, hanging off of the rung… wow
The 6 week vow, bag up, boo-ya kachow!
Then back to the strategy. Oh, it ain’t flattery
How, do we intake, we’re woke
From last year, but we won’t settle that
Easy, aight
We won’t have it, we write these essays on PR,
To win awards, by far
At the same time the star
On media, so far
Making videos about the start, that’s when it’s
Back to the shop again, yo
All of FRC
We better go capture this moment and hope it don’t pass us
You better lose yourself in the robot, the moment
You build it, you better never let it break (break)
You only get six weeks, do not miss your chance to grow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime (yo)
You better lose yourself in the robot, the moment

(You better)
I guess Miss Daisy is not just hanging from rungs/bars. She’s making her own! Keep up the good work guys!
Sweet tunes! I love M&M!! Can’t believe some people doubted your creative genius.
Hats off to these wonderful writers!! What creativity they have, remixing Eminem’s iconic track, with this wonderful parody. If anyone doubted them (cough, cough), you were obviously mistaken, because THIS IS SUCH A BOP!!
