As the end of build season fast approaches, Team 341 has been making new discoveries and plenty of progress. Students have picked up the pace to finish building the robot and have started meeting our deadlines. Members of Miss Daisy are beginning to get pumped up for the upcoming competition season.
Here is a summary of the tasks we have completed this week:
Mechanical/Build
This week the mechanical build team worked hard on the robot’s construction. Significant progress has been made on the drive train, as well as on the advanced elevator, which has been attached to the drive base and picks up totes at an incredible rate. Although components of the drive base are still being shipped, a base with two functioning wheels was test driven this week. The “Sparky’s Robot World” robots have also improved immensely and are still on track to be unveiled later this year.
Media
This was an exciting week for the media sub-team. The latest team vlog has been edited to be our most informative and fun-filled episode yet. Photos documenting the hard work of students and mentors have been edited and uploaded to the team Flickr.
Public Relations/Awards
The PR/Awards sub-team has been hard at work with the business plan and awards essays. This week they finished editing and updating the business plan, and will start on the shortened version next week. The Woodie Flowers and Dean’s List Awards essays have been continuously edited and improved. Towards the end of the week, some PR/Awards members worked with the website sub-team to brainstorm some fun facts for the new website.
Website
The new website is getting better and better each day. The new theme was chosen in week three. Since then, students have been focused on implementing the theme, deciding on the website’s navigation, and tweaking the look of the website so that it is consistent with the team’s other web and media sites.
As week four comes to a close, we have only two weeks to achieve all our goals for this fantastic build season.
