Yesterday Team 341 traveled to Salem County Community College in Carney’s Point, New Jersey to compete at Duel on the Delaware, an off-season competition hosted by FRC Teams 365 & 316.
The robot performed admirably the whole day, even with new drivers and operators putting her to the test. After qualification matches, Miss Daisy placed 10th among a field of 36 teams, going 3-2. We were chosen in the first round of selections, joining the 3rd alliance with Teams 4954 and 226, a pre-rookie team, Velocity, based out of Cumberland, NJ.
The quarter-finals were hard-fought. We ended up going to 3 matches and adjusted our strategy along the way to end up victorious. In the semi-finals the opposing alliance was very good and played some strong offense. Ultimately our alliance was eliminated, with our day’s record ending at 6-5.
All told, the competition was a great success. With 5 qualification matches we were able to give many new team members the excitement, and pressure, of being a booth crew member. In addition, we saw many new up-and-coming faces in the pit and a lot of team members were able to help ready Miss Daisy for each of her matches. Rookies were also given the experience of interview scouting, met a whole bunch of new teams, and discovered what Daisy spirit is all about.
Thank you to all of our coaches and mentors for coming out for the day: Mr. Ostrow, Nick, Adam, Sean, Kristian & Frank. Special thanks to Mr. Yost for driving down separately to deliver our team cameras!
