Ramp Riot 2011 Results

2011 Ramp RiotOn November 12th, our team hosted two robotics events for high school aged students: the larger FRC competition and the FTC table top sized robots. There was great energy in both areas and the Philly Phanatic even showed up to cheer on the teams! The great interest from our community filled up our circle gym as 36 teams battled it out for the prestigious title of Ramp Riot Champion in the FRC arena.

The competition is our main attraction, but it is not the only element that makes Ramp Riot shine. Setting up a welcoming environment is important to us and as such, we continue to have concession stands and an information table every year. We even have a face painting station for the kids (and youthful adults)! As a team, we also love input from the FIRST® community. We were happy to welcome presenters from NEMO, who held seminars for mentors of teams.

2011 Ramp RiotAs a team, we love to welcome all people through our doors, but we were especially excited to welcome Girl Scouts for our annual program Girls in Gear©. We had them visit many stations where they learned about robots, and FIRST®, as well as jobs in science for women. This last section was presented by two wonderful volunteers with experience in the field.

As an organization, we use Ramp Riot to inspire our blossoming young students to achieve and we hope to do the same for other teams. Through Ramp Riot, we hope to inform and inspire our community. Ramp Riot XII was a great success not only because of the team members and coaches, but also our community and volunteers both near and far.
