Build season is in full motion, and this is one of the most productive build seasons I remember from my four years on Team 341, despite the numerous snow days we’ve had to cope with. Keeping up with this productive trend, we’ve had to increase our work hours recently in order to stay on schedule. Unfortunately, I, being an animator, haven’t spent very much time getting familiar with Miss Daisy 10. I have been graced with a show of her maneuverability, and I am thoroughly impressed with her speed. The tube manipulation system and minibot projects are moving along smoothly, so I’m told. One of our special projects this year, to build a driving base for the gondola to be used in in the drama department’s performance of Phantom of the Opera, is almost complete, although the frame moves a bit quicker than those of Christine Daaé’s time.
In the animation and CAD department, things are working just as well. The CAD team is experiencing a lull due to their having to wait for robot parts to be finished. We on the animation team have nearly finished modeling and texturing and began yesterday to give the scenes motion. This year’s animation theme, “Change Their World,” challenges us to identify and solve a problem facing an imaginary alien species known as the iiko. We expect this project and the rest to be finished soundly by their respective deadlines. Build season may soon start to dwindle, but we’ll all be excited to be leave the winter cold behind to get ready for spring’s competition season!
