Week two is off to a roaring start. And we sure got a lot done! This year I feel like we have about fifty things going at once and at least twenty more we need to start soon. This week has been one of triumphs and trials as we started to get into the jist of the season. Aside from the robot, we have the usual CAD, animation, media, vlogs, Team in a Box projects going as well. In addition, we have been tasked with building a ship for the school musical, Phantom of the Opera.
Let’s also not forget the esteemed job of patching up ripped FIRST® logo tubes that we are going to use for the game, which I just loved to do, though I don’t think I’ll be touching duct tape for a while. I sometimes wonder if we will have any time for the REALLY important parts of the season like dancing and Wawa runs.
So, as most of our projects move forward smoothly, we have encountered our fair share of snags in others. For instance, on Wednesday we received the new minibot rules, which quelled our previous design ideas. The FIRST® game designers clarified a discrepancy in the rules concerning the use of stored energy to power the minibot, which had been our original idea. But, as always, we put our brains together and solved the problem.
This week not only reassured me that we are as innovative as ever, and are definitely going to give everyone a run for their money at regionals and St. Louis!
