Miss Daisy seems to be a star magnet this season. In December 2007 we were approached to help out with yet another media-related project which has benefited both our students’ media skills and our desire to bring FIRST® to a wider audience. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Story House Productions have teamed up to film a two hour long documentary about FIRST®, featuring Miss Daisy and four other teams as representatives of the FIRST® community. We now have the opportunity to share our incredible experiences as part of FIRST® with potentially millions of viewers.
Our students have been working hard behind the scenes to produce and film many of the team’s activities. As part of the arrangement we have been blessed with a high-end Sony HD video camera for the season and many of us have been having lots of fun learning how to use it and following our team with it. Our students have also learned the benefits of tape-less recording and how to log clips on the computer. During our visit to the Naval Academy for the Chesapeake Regional, Story House has agreed to give us a tour of their facilities in nearby Washington, D.C.
So far this season, Story House Productions has been with us during the New Hampshire Kickoff, many of our initial brainstorming sessions, and also during the final week of build season. Expect to see them following our team around at a regional or two, as well as at the Nationals in Atlanta!
